the sound of silence

i came home today to silence. pure silence. and i must say it was wonderful. our house can get a little bit "lively" when everyone is home... random chaos at it's finest. i love it. a house full of family and friends... it's laughing and chatting and food galore. but i'm one of those people who after a few days of chaos needs her little bit of alone time to regain some sanity. it's just how i work. so what does a girl do with a quiet empty house? cranks the tunes and sings along at the top of her lungs to lauren hill while making banana bread (so much for silence eh?), and then settles into the couch to watch a little gilmore girls and prison break. delightful.

update: i woke up this morning with "the sound of silence" playing over and over in my head... and couldn't figure out why.
